Esports players selecting different fantasy champions across a match series

Traditional League of Legends series can feature the same high-priority champions in game after game. Fearless Draft changes that pattern by restricting champions that have already appeared earlier in the series.

The basic idea

Exact implementation can differ by league, but the central rule is consistent: previously selected champions become unavailable, or partially restricted, in later games. “Hard” versions may remove picks used by either team; other formats restrict only a team's own earlier choices.

Why later games look different

As the series continues, comfort picks disappear and the available pool narrows. Coaches must plan several drafts ahead. Flexible players gain value because they can cover multiple roles or styles, while one-dimensional strategies become easier to expose.

The system also changes scouting. A champion ignored in game one might be deliberately saved for a decisive game. An early surprise pick can force the opponent to reveal an answer sooner than planned.

What viewers should check

Before a tournament, confirm whether restrictions apply per team or to both teams, whether bans also carry over and whether the pool resets between series. “Fearless” is a family of draft rules rather than one universal rulebook.
