Editorial policy
The standards every piece on this site is held to — verification, corrections, sourcing and disclosure.

What we publish
Everything on MatchUpWorld is written by our own team. We do not republish press releases as news, we do not run syndicated wire copy under our own byline, and we do not use automated tools to generate articles for publication.
Verification
Before a factual claim is published we establish where it comes from. Statistics are traced to the body that produced them. Quotes are taken from a recording, a transcript, or a first-hand report — never from a summary of a summary. Where we cannot establish something, we say so in the piece rather than implying more certainty than we have.
We do not report unconfirmed claims circulating on social media as though they were established. If a story is developing and details are unclear, the article says that plainly.
Corrections
Errors get corrected on the article itself, not quietly removed. A corrected article carries a note at the foot saying what was changed and on what date. Significant corrections — ones that change the substance of a piece — are flagged at the top.
To report an error, use the contact page and choose “Correction”. We aim to respond within two working days.
Opinion and analysis
Analysis pieces — where we draw conclusions rather than only report — are written as such, and the reasoning is shown so you can disagree with it. We do not present a view as a neutral summary of events.
Sources and anonymity
We prefer named sources. Where a source cannot be named, we explain in the piece why anonymity was granted and what the source is in a position to know. We do not grant anonymity to allow someone to attack another person without accountability.
Commercial content
Any content produced under a commercial arrangement is labelled clearly and unmistakably at the top of the piece. Advertisers have no influence over, and no advance sight of, our editorial coverage. Affiliate links, where used, are disclosed in the article that contains them.
AI and automation
We use software for routine tasks such as transcription, spelling and layout. We do not publish machine-generated articles, and every piece on this site has been written and checked by a person before publication.
Right of reply
If we report something critical about a person or organisation, we approach them for comment before publication and include their response. Where they decline or do not reply in time, the article says so.
