Record prize money
Each men's and women's singles champion receives $5.5 million, while each runner-up earns $2.8 million. Semi-finalists receive $1.45 million and quarter-finalists $780,000. Total player compensation is listed at $108 million.
Equal singles prize money does not mean every event uses the same payout structure. Doubles awards are paid per team, while wheelchair and junior competitions have separate schedules and compensation.
Deciding-set tiebreak
If a deciding set reaches 6-6, the US Open uses a 10-point tiebreak. A player must reach at least 10 points and lead by two. This differs from the familiar seven-point tiebreak used earlier in many sets.
The rule prevents an unlimited deciding set while still demanding a larger winning margin than a standard tiebreak.
