Greta Gerwig’s Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew is scheduled for theaters on February 12, 2027, with its Netflix release following on April 2. IMAX sneak previews begin on February 10. These are separate viewing windows, so a cinema date in February does not mean the film will already be available to stream.
Netflix confirmed the schedule in its latest Narnia announcement, alongside a trailer and production images. For families deciding how to watch, the central choice is whether to book a theatrical screening or wait for the home release.
Three dates, three different meanings
There are 49 days between the announced theatrical and streaming dates. That is a calculation from the calendar, rather than an additional distribution promise. A local cinema’s showtimes, booking window and available formats still need to be checked in that market.
This story goes back before the wardrobe
The film adapts C. S. Lewis’s The Magician’s Nephew, with Gerwig writing and directing. The official C. S. Lewis book listing presents it as a story of Narnia’s creation and a standalone entry into the series.
That makes the title a useful starting point for viewers unfamiliar with the earlier films. Someone recognizing only The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe should expect a different part of the fictional chronology, rather than assume this is a retelling of the same adventure.
Netflix’s cast list includes David McKenna, Beatrice Campbell, Emma Mackey, Daniel Craig and Meryl Streep. The announcement confirms their involvement; it is not a review of the finished performances. A trailer can establish the look and premise, but it cannot answer how well the full story holds together.
What to check before buying tickets
The IMAX preview date, the wider cinema release and the streaming date answer different questions. Check the cinema listing for the exact date, location and format before paying, especially when a search result mixes the three dates together. A February 10 screening should not be assumed to be available at every cinema.
Netflix also identifies Sony Pictures Entertainment as the distributor outside North America. The international audience therefore needs local booking information rather than a North American ticket link alone.
